Greetings readers!

pnp-1-13-17-2

I had the opportunity to visit ‘Paint and Play’ last night and it was everything!  There was nothing but great vibes, smells, poets andddd, you guessed it…. ART! Everything about this event screamed belonging. The atmosphere was very inviting and electrifying. I did not see a frown in sight! Everyone appeared to be having a genuine wonderful time. I, for one, will definitely be returning for more! I will include the location information towards the bottom. I spent a few moments mingling with the featured artists and a couple of vendors. I hope you enjoy!

FROM ME, TO YOU, VIA THEM

The Debate: College Still Worth it? — Jay Colby

Special shouts out to Mr. Jay Colby on this post!

I myself am in the middle of battling if I should continue my college career. The field that I am currently in has many positions that branch from the core of corporate security. Some require degrees and others just genuine experience. I’m already at the point of starting the repayment process for my student loans. What caused me to raise an eyebrow, or both, was the fact that in less than a year I was already looking at $17,000.00…in less than a year people!!!! So that caused me to stop in my tracks, re-evaluate and ask myself, ‘Lexi…is this REALLY what you want to do? There has to be some trade programs I could do instead to add to my resume’.’  I mean, I know my weaknesses and being a studious student is one of them. *Insert giggle with a head shake*  I am one of those individuals who have managed to excel in my career field with smoothness because of my willingness to learn new things and the ability to work well with others. Not because I had a degree on hand.  Like most adults that late bloom into the idea of college, I thought it was the right thing to do. We see it everywhere. Especially late at night and the ‘you can do anything if you put your mind to it’ commercials are on network repeat. But, I digress. I have complete confidence in saying, college isn’t for everyone.

Thanks for stopping by!

With college graduations across the country about a month from starting. The question that almost every former or current college student has asked themselves. Is a college degree still worth in 2016 due to the cost and other factors answering this question can be perplexing for some. Many advocates for college would have us to […]

 The Sky Smiled

It’s a sunny, glowing and crisp day. Today I witnessed the release of a lovely soul. They knew her to be that of a pure vessel. Many had the opportunity to  be graced with her presence. Even I too had the chance to  have held her embrace and welcoming words of love.  I won’t do too much speaking about the one who’s no longer in the flesh…but what  I will do, is acknowledge the beautiful fellow human  beings that still roam the earth. Daily Prompt: Graceful

via Daily Prompt: Graceful

When you think of a woman, most times you think of image first. We as a society have afro-higotten away from adhering to the cliché ‘Don’t judge a book by it’s cover’.  More often than not, you have been judged by your peers just from a quick glance. Never mind the fact that you are a super cool individual. Never mind the fact that you have prestigious college degrees. Never mind the fact that you have children but you don’t let the stress of parenting get to you. Our peers don’t see those things…they only see you in a moments flash. But there will be moments when your charming mannerisms and your uncanny ability to be awesome, will supersede you.  You are still a graceful being that walks upon this green earth!  Being a woman is certainly a task within itself, but I,  like most of you have proudly accepted the challenge. If you see another woman and she is lacking a little sunshine, give her a nod and smile. Sometimes we have to remind each other that even though society continues to set erroneous standards, we are fine just the way we are. Graceful and all.

WITH LOVE,

To You, My Sistah

ltrDear Sistah,

I hope this letter reaches you in good health. I am writing you to let you know that you are not alone. Continue reading “To You, My Sistah”
