“Tomorrow”—New Cliff-Hanger Series

For months Elizabeth has been trying to learn how to overcome her anxiety about becoming a boss. As much as she knew she deserved the position, just as much of her knew she did not want to create tension in her office. She knew the promotion was coming and Mr.Thomas, the current manager, had already sent her up for the recommendation. Too late to back out now. Elizabeth was known because of her work ethic. However, she never interacted with anyone outside of working hours. She didn’t believe in mixing business with pleasure. Too risky she’d always thought.  ~~~~~ End of the week. th  Lana took a deep breath, said her prayer again and reached to unlock her office door. Just when she was about to open the door…“BOOM!” a loud crack of thunder shook the building.  Lana’s heart was beating through her chest at that moment. Thanks a lot for the scare Mother nature. Lana mumbled under her breath.  Lana peeked her head out of the office looking left and then right.  She didn’t see anyone in her line of sight.  As she worked up the nerve to the leave her office, she noticed a piece of paper on the floor by the door. “Your prayers aren’t working” and there was a sinister smiley face under the note.  What. The. Fuck.  What is this?!  I can’t leave!  This has to be a sadistic joke… At least that’s what Lana was hoping.  She stepped back into the office to gather her thoughts. She didn’t want to chance leaving and whoever or whatever was after her, could get her and no one would know.  It takes ten minutes to get to the parking lot from her office. She looked out of the office window and scanned the lot to see if anyone was out of place. Continue reading “Whispers…Cliff hanger Series…Finale”

th…As soon as she sat down, there was a light knock at her office door. Lana froze in fear…’Yes? May I help you?’ she heard the knock again, this time with a little more force. ‘I’m sorry, but I don’t have time to play games with you.’ Lana had no intentions on opening the door or looking out of her blinds to see who was out there.  No one ever responded and there weren’t any more knocks. Lana closed her eyes and repeated a spirit prayer, ‘Ancestors, I call on you to protect me from any wicked spirit that may try to hinder my will. Surround me with your arms of protection.’  She inhaled and exhaled three times and opened her eyes. This is crazy. I know I’m not tripping. I heard a knock. DAILY PROMPTS

Daily Prompt: Subdued

tearvia Daily Prompt: Subdued

Dear significant other,

I tried my very best to make sure that you had what you needed. I did all I could to make sure you were where you needed to be. I did everything you wanted me to do. Yet….here I am. Stuck. I never imagined that I would ever be in this predicament. How could this have happened? Where did it all go wrong? Who’s fault is this? Was it me? Or could it be you? So many questions….not enough answers. Did not we promise that we’d be together forever? Or was that our lust, and not love for one another? Is this punishment for something in my past? Or…maybe I am a  victim of your selfish gains. Makes no difference does it….we’ve both lost. We’ve both lost out on times of joy. We lost our ability to look one another in the eyes and see the love.  We just see hurt. We just see reflections of our faded past. You managed to have me subdued with contempt. I stayed still. I knew full well that the time was near for things to be different, but I kept it going. In this end, we both ended up with hurt. In ways that either of us would have imagined. I hope that on whatever paths we choose to take, we will never forget the love that was.

Yours truly,

Your Former Love

She never told anyone but…Sometimes she could see spirits. Most of the time they did not bother her, but from time to time a spirit would mess with her through her dreams.  Lana always wanted to tell other people what she went through but she knew they would not understand.  She had learned a few different techniques that allowed her to remove those lingering spirits from her subconsciousness. Most times they worked, other times not so much.

A loud crack of thunder is heard causing Lana to jump. The rain is so heavy, visibility is hampered. Lana won’t be leaving anytime soon.  Continue reading “Whispers…Cliff Hanger Series Cont’d”

thShe never has a bad thing to say. Her
thoughts however, are a different story. She doesn’t speak often about the things that cross her mind for fear of disdain. Lana is her name. Lana happens to be a dreamer. She has them regularly but seldom does she attempt to decipher them. Her great grandmother told her when she was a little girl, “Lana baby, you have a unique gift. One that many will not understand. But don’t let that keep you from doing anything you want to do. I will teach the ways of our ancestors. Don’t you worry sweet baby.”  She always replays that day whenever her dreams get to be too much. Continue reading “Whispers…Cliff Hanger Series”

SHORT STORIES

Oh, but He did…

Sunday night…

Damn, I did it again Donnie said to himself. One more lady added to the long list of failed relationship attempts. It’s not that he wasn’t trying, it’s just more difficult to date nowadays. This last woman, Julissa, she would have been perfect but she was too wrapped up in being the next ‘relationship goals’ couple. Sad shit, Donnie chuckled to himself. Off to bed.

Monday morning… Continue reading “Oh, but He did…”
